Cherokee Cultural Program at Kituwah Historical Site
Lisa Kretschmer, owner of Lighter Living, is calling all Cherokee brothers and sisters to join in an Eastern Band of Cherokee cultural celebration program including a Stomp Dance at sunset on both December 2 and 16 at the Kituwah Historical Site, in Cherokee, North Carolina. Participants are asked to bring potluck food items and other contributions to be good to the Earth.
The dance is a traditional medicine dance open to those genuinely interested to experience and participate.
The fire is blessed at sunrise and kept throughout the day. Songs are sung while stomp dancing counter clockwise (cleansing) around the fire. Visiting participants fall in line after the Cherokee dancers alternating man/woman, and follow their lead.
