First Carolinas Cannabis Convention in Charlotte
The Friday session, geared for business attendees, will open with a breakfast and guest speaker Mecklenburg County (district 107) North Carolina House Representative Kelly Alexander followed by other presentations on subjects such as compliance issues, farming practices and retail best practices. Public attendees on Saturday will hear from experts on dosing, medical care and other topics. Tours of some area farms are possible near the end of the day based on attendance levels.
Kim DeLaney-Surratt, producer and director of event operations, founded My Green House CBD, in Concord, and formerly co-owned Its Just Events, a Charlotte-based event management firm and was the director of events for the Black Expos held in Charlotte, Hampton Roads and Savannah.
“Many industry shows are hugely focused on the THC strain of cannabis and are mostly located in the Midwest or West Coast,” she says. “As the industry is evolving, CBD and hemp have made major progress in the cannabis industry and is set to outperform its more popular cousin strain. It was time to create a show that truly represented what the businesses in the Carolinas had designed. The Carolinas is home to many hemp growers, retail store owners, distributors and extractors.”
She says that the event highlights what is available regionally and invites national brands to expand into the southeast by participating and it also involves working with many startups and smaller businesses to help them understand the value in event marketing and its return on investment.
“We started in the CBD industry due to health reasons,” adds DeLaney-Surratt. “We believe we are growing because we are passionate, genuine and transparent. Our customers are our top priority and helping spread the importance of natural plant medicine is game-changing to our everyday health and wellness. We hope to make this an annual event with the support of the Carolinas.”
