World Day of Prayer, Picnic by Unity of Charlotte

Unity of Charlotte invites the public to participate in its annual World Day of Prayer services from 4 to 7 p.m. on September 12 and its Unity of All picnic from noon to 6 p.m. on September 14.

The first event, to be led by Rev. Pat Drea, will constitute a Prayer Vigil and personal prayer during the first three hours; guest clergy, trained chaplains and practitioners will be on hand to sustain the vigil and private prayer sessions. At 7 p.m., all participants will assemble for a prayer service whose theme is Infinite Presence: Unlimited Potential.

The picnic is designed to “celebrate and demonstrate the unity of all” according to Michael Brown. Congregation leaders at six “New Thought” churches “have enthusiastically embraced the idea of demonstrating unity.” Opportunities for volleyball, ball games, fishing, playground activities, music and other activities will be available. Participants are asked to bring their own lawn basket and lawn chairs.

Locations: Sept. 12, 401 E. Arrowood Rd. Sept 14, Park Road Park, 6220 Park Rd. For more information, call 704-523-0062 or visit UnityofCharlotte.org.
