Sustain Charlotte's Biketoberfest Rides Again on October 24
Sustain Charlotte will celebrate the return of Biketoberfest from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on October 24. They are once again encouraging Charlotteans to discover fun and easy ways to get around Charlotte without driving. For the first time, they will extend the route beyond South End and Center City north through Villa Heights, Optimist Park, Midtown and NoDa. The route will showcase some new bike infrastructure, the Blue Line, plus new and old local businesses, parks and greenways along the way.
The unique, scavenger hunt-style event—starting at noon after check-in at Triple C Brewing Co.’s Barrel Room—will take riders along a bike-friendly route with stops at fun destinations and will culminate with an after-party also at Triple C Brewing Co. starting at 4:30 p.m. There will also be a shorter, more family-friendly route for children. Along the way, participants will collect stamps in their official Biketoberfest passport that will then be traded in for raffle tickets at the after-party. The more destinations one visits, the more chances they’ll have to win.
Sustain Charlotte, our community advocate for biking in the Charlotte metro area, started the event in 2014 as a fun way to promote biking for transportation to Charlotte-Mecklenburg residents. Bicycling for transportation promotes a healthier lifestyle and reduces transportation costs, air pollution and carbon emissions.
