Four Shen Yun Performances in Charlotte
The North Carolina Falun Dafa Association (NCFDA) will present Shen Yun in Charlotte at 7:30 p.m. on March 2 through 4 with an additional 2 p.m. show on the final day at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center’s Belk Theater. The world’s premier classical Chinese dance company, Shen Yun is also a spiritual and uplifting revival of the beauty and goodness of China before communism.
New every year, the program depicts stories and legends of Chinese history including the 1999-launched brutal persecution against Falun Dafa (also called Falun Gong) followers by the Chinese communist government. Many of the scenes of persecution have been experienced first-hand by performance members.
The Chinese Communist Party has uprooted traditional beliefs and destroyed ancient treasures obscuring 5,000 years of civilization in China. Shen Yun was founded in New York in 2006 by a group of classical Chinese artists and Falun Dafa followers to revive traditional, divinely inspired culture of China. The performers’ source of inspiration is the Falun Dafa spiritual discipline which is rooted in ancient Chinese culture and incorporates meditation exercises, teachings of truthfulness, compassion, forbearance, self-discipline and selflessness.
Tickets start at $80. Location: 130 N. Tryon St. For more information or to obtain tickets, visit www.ShenYun.com/NC or call 800-382-1731. Use code AWKN23 to waive service fee. NCFDA holds free Falun Gong classes from 9 to 11 a.m., Sundays, at Reedy Creek Park (2900 Rocky River Rd., Charlotte) and Colonel Francis Beatty Park (4330 Weddington Rd., Matthews).
