Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region Holds Major Events
In celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region will present the seventh annual free Building Futures Affordable Housing Symposium featuring speaker Mia Birdsong from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on March 14 at Central Piedmont Community College’s Halton Theater in Charlotte and its annual Blue Jean Bash fundraising gala from 6 to 10 p.m. on April 28 at a to-be-determined location. From addressing our region’s affordable housing crisis to building a house, dressing up to dance the night away or joining a boots-on-the ground initiative, the two events and other initiatives provide many opportunities to get involved in their work and support their mission of putting God’s love into action to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope to achieve their vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Since being founded in 1983 by seven local churches, the organization has served 3,500-plus families in our region. They build homes, communities and hope by partnering with deserving families through their Homebuyer, Critical Home Repair and Money Matters Financial Literacy programs.
Location: Halton Theater, 1206 Elizabeth Ave. Symposium is free and open to the public. For more information including cost and location of Blue Jean Bash and news of other upcoming events and how to volunteer or donate, visit www.Habitatcltregion.org/events.
