The Schiele Museum of Natural History in Gastonia Hosts Two Special Events
The Schiele Museum of Natural History, in Gastonia, North Carolina, will present two special events that will inform visitors about nature, plants and the world around us. Flower Power, an Earth Day celebration, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 20 ($3 plus museum admission) and Strawberry Jamboree will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 4 on the Shiele’s Farm ($8 includes farm admission).
At the first event, guests can enjoy a day filled with eco-friendly activities, creative crafts and a shared commitment to nurturing our planet. Tour the night sky in the planetarium and mine for gemstones. Also, learn about recycling, composting and gardening. Further, The Farm will offer a variety of local seedlings for sale, ready to plant this month. Learn about the rich history of strawberries and how they grow at the Strawberry Jamboree while enjoying games, crafts, cooking demonstrations and sweet, locally grown fruit.
Visitors can also explore the exciting exhibits at The Schiele during Flower Power and get up close and personal with their live animals on The Farm during both events. The one-half mile Nature Trail is also open during both events and included with admission.
The planetarium is open daily, $5/person. Location: 1500 E. Garrison Blvd. For more information or advance tickets, call 704-866-6923 or visit SchieleMuseum.org.
