Listening to the Patient
Mar 30, 2024 02:06PM ● By Martin MironRatliff Integrative Family Medicine, the office of Melissa H. Ratliff, M.D., board-certified in family medicine and fellowship-trained in integrative medicine providing direct primary health care, is soon to celebrate their one-year anniversary on May 1. She is accepting new patients and says, “I left traditional medical practice to create my dream practice of how healthcare should be delivered. Patients have the right to accessible, affordable, high-quality care.”
The doctor stays available by phone, text, email, video or in person when needed, primarily for disease prevention, but also chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma and cholesterol. Her wellness visits and cash pay labs are often less expensive than insurance. Direct primary care (DPC) is a novel approach to practicing medicine. It removes the barriers of corporate healthcare systems and insurance so there is a direct relationship between patients and doctors.
Appointments of 45 to 60 minutes allow Ratliff to spend more time with patients. “I will really listen and think outside the box,” she says. “We will discuss where you are currently, where you want to be in one year and then create a plan on how to get you there. I want to be a guide on your health journey.”
Ratliff will be at the Kaleidoscope Festival, in Waxhaw, May 11. She states, “I am a strong patient advocate delivering higher than expected results, and I know that patients know their bodies better than I do. I will listen and help.”
Patients that sign up before May 1 can waive the $100 enrollment fee if paying quarterly or annually. Ratliff Integrative Family Medicine is located at 104 Waxhaw Professional Park, Ste. D, in Waxhaw. For appointments and more information, call 704-443-8530 or visit DrMelissaRatliff.com.
