Tashi Kyil Tibetan Refugee Buddhist Monks to Visit Charlotte
The Insight Meditation Community of Charlotte will host the Tashi Kyil Tibetan Buddhist Monks for an evening of chants, meditation and a Dharma Talk on the Four Noble Truths at 7 p.m. on November 28 in the Milford Chapel at Park Road Baptist Church, in Charlotte. They are touring the U.S. to teach the Dharma, educate the public about the culture and religion of Tibet and present a message of wisdom and compassion. The tourraises much needed funds for their monastery and the many children they care for and educate.
Furthermore, many items made by Tibetan refugees living in India will be available for purchase including bowls, scarves, prayer flags and jewelry.
Following the destruction of the original Labrang Tashi Kyil Monastery in Tibet, exiled monks rebuilt their monastery in Dehra Dun, India in 1967. To the present day, the chanting styles, rituals, practices and self-initiations are preserved just as they were in Tibet. The Labrang Tashi Kyil Monks are a part of the Tibetan Buddhist Gelug Sect led by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Free admission, donations are welcomed. Location: 3900 Park Rd. For more information, call 704-616-8911.
