Natural Awakenings Charlotte is accepting nominations through the end of August from readers for healthy food establishments in Mecklenburg, Union and Gaston counties for potential inclusion in the publication’s Healthy Food Guide found in the directory at the magazine’s website AwakeningCharlotte.com. Nominees should offer non-GMO, organic or pesticide-free, whole-food products and seafood and/or meat from ethical and sustainable sources, and may source from local farms.

“To maintain health, it’s well known that maintaining a balanced and healthy diet is important, yet there are many food establishments serving meals with additional sugar, food additives, artificial colors, pesticides, etc.,” says Shannon McKenzie, publisher of Natural Awakenings Charlotte. “The intention of the Healthy Food Guide is to identify providers that are committed to providing more healthy options than standard dining establishments do today.”
