Eight Winners at the 2024 Sustain Charlotte Awards
Sustain Charlotte honored eight winners at their 2024 Sustain Charlotte Awards celebration and fundraiser at the Revelry in Camp North End on April 24. Honeywell, a company making the world more sustainable with an array of solutions ranging from sustainable aviation fuels to low global warming potential refrigerants, was the event’s presenting sponsor.
The categories and winners are Inspiring Individual: Elaine Powell, Mecklenburg County Commissioner and Chair of the Environmental Stewardship Committee; Inspiring Building Project: NOVEL University Place by Crescent Communities, a luxury apartment designed to promote environmental and social sustainability; Inspiring Small Business: Mindful & Good, a design studio dedicated to creating impactful brands that ignite positive change; Inspiring Large Business: Stantec, an international design and consulting company that designs with community in mind; Inspiring Government Agency: Long Range Planning Division of the Charlotte Planning, Design and Development Department, a group ensuring the public are co-creators in developing the 2040 Policy Map, a land use tool informing sustainable land use; Inspiring Nonprofit: Queens University of Charlotte, an educational institution enacting a comprehensive sustainability plan to change their own institutional behaviors and impact the community with resources;Inspiring Young Leader: Shruti Agrawal, a 17-year-old dedicated to the environment with a passion for improving communities; and Recycling Excellence: PNC Music Pavilion, a venue fostering a culture of environmental responsibility.
